DOMESTIC STRUCTURAL DESIGN
Although our primary involvement is with larger scale design work, we are more than happy to assist with domestic structural design issues. Whether it is a new-build house, a small extension or even just a minor structural alteration such as the removal of a load-bearing wall, we can help. In all but the most basic of alterations you will need to consider the structural implications of what you intend to do.
We can produce structural calculations and accompanying sketches as necessary, either based on suitable drawings produced by others or on our own site visit.
In addition, we may be able to assist with the overall architectural design of any works that you may have in mind. Although we would always refer enquiries for large-scale architectural design to suitably experienced chartered architects, we have the capability and experience to undertake smaller projects ourselves.
As an extension to our service we can also take on the role of project manager and provide you with the following:
- design outline schemes for discussion and approval
- produce full drawings and specifications as necessary
- obtain Local Authority Planning Approval , if required
- obtain Building Regulations Approval, if required
- advise on compliance with any other relevant legislation, including The Party Wall Act and The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
- obtain quotations from suitable approved contractors, either by negotiation or formal tender
- oversee the works, dealing with any unforeseen issues that arise
- check and certify contractors accounts for payment
